Hurricane Beryl Outage Update

UPDATE 08/01/2024

MyJECnet Customers,

Currently we have about 700 open tickets.

While the electric side has been restored, internet crews and contractors are still working around the clock to rebuild our wireless and fiber networks. Our team is not just trying to rebuild our system, but to build it back better!

Our system sustained EXTENSIVE damage with over 20 main line breaks, over 70 distribution breaks, and countless issues/damage to your individual service drops. We would like to remind our customers that no matter how well a fiber installation is planned and deployed, and how strong the cable is you use, you can’t completely guard against problems down the line. Whether it is acts of God, extreme weather, or just a shovel, fiber networks can be disrupted by factors outside of our control.

We understand that some of you may have had internet during the storm; however, as repairs are made and debris is removed, this may have caused some customers to lose connection.

At this time, we realize that there are many outages; however, calling in repeatedly does not move you up on a list or prioritize you in any way. All this does is bog our phone lines down and duplicate a ticket for your already reported outage. Currently we have about 700 open tickets, and we will get your service restored.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we rebuild the MyJECnet broadband our system.

The MyJECnet Team

UPDATE 07/25/2024

Weather conditions are slowing our progress with the internet restoration process. Crews will continue to work in these conditions; however, water is beginning to build up in ditches and in customers’ yards, which is making it difficult for our bucket trucks to maneuver around without causing damage or getting stuck.

We have been seeing progress each day as more customers come back online. Your patience and understanding are very appreciated as your broadband service is restored.

Dear MyJEC.net Customer,

Hurricane Beryl has caused extensive damage to both our electrical system and broadband network. Rest assured our JEC technicians, and ten crews of contractors, are working seven days a week until internet service is restored to each customer.

If you had fiber optic service after the storm and it has since gone down, there could be many reasons:

1. Fiber may have been damaged from trees:

  • Either being removed
  • Or more have fallen

2. The box on the pole that feeds fiber to you is damaged

3. The fiber drop going to your home has been damaged

4. Equipment inside the home is not plugged in correctly

  • Fiber customers should be plugged into GE2 on their modem
  • This cable should lead to the router and be plugged into WAN or Internet

As fiber line service is restored, streets in your area will begin to re-establish internet service. If your next-door neighbors have service and you do not, it could be the equipment was damaged from the street to your home. If you do not have a service ticket in, AND neighbors near you are up, please give us a call.

If you have wireless service with a radio (dish) mounted on your property, please ensure the radio is still intact. If it is gone, turned, or broken, and we do not have a ticket in for you, please call.  If you  have submitted a ticket, we are working toward getting your radio reconnected.

Thank you for your patience as we rebuild AND improve your internet service.

Best regards,

Your MyJEC.net Team
